Friday, 15 May 2020

7:00am – 7:30pm

On 1st July 1916, the bloodiest battle of WW1 took place on The Somme. 19,240 men were killed in that first day of battle alone; now you can retrace their steps as we explore the Somme walking through Thiepval Wood with the Somme Association.

Also visiting Hawthorn Crater, Sunken Lane and the Ulster Tower. First, we visit the newly opened Commonwealth War Graves ‘Experience’ Centre near Arras where the specialist teams work to ensure ‘they will never be forgotten’. We find out more about the recovery and reburial team who locate on average, 40 discoveries of World War remains every year, where staff play an integral role in the recovery process and now you can see how it happens. Additional payments required by way of donation to Somme Association and CWGC. Fully guided tour with travel by Executive Coach and Eurotunnel
